are not the same blues
you find on the coast
of the pacific ocean in
northern california
they are greener clearer
paler and more limpid
swimming-pool aqua
right out in the ocean
when the sun shines
and a steely gray when the
storm's coming that’s not the
same as the sea beneath fog
the storms arrive
from the land side
not from the horizon
